Meet Our Director: Elise Geissler-Huesgen, PhD
Where the Joy of Dance Meets the Science of Movement At Elevate Motion Studio, I believe dance should be both a joyful outlet for creativity and a safe, healthy discipline. My approach is shaped by two halves of my life: growing up immersed in the vibrant dance culture of Germany, and later earning a PhD in biological anthropology. I love combining an expert understanding of how the human body works with the pure artistry of dance to nurture every student who walks through our doors.
Why My Background Matters for Your Child
A Lifelong Love of Dance: Dance has been my thread from the beginning. I started at age five in Europe, and later continued my training in the U.S., earning a minor in dance and performing as a member of the University of Southern Mississippi Dixie Darlings.
Anatomical & Movement Safety: My PhD isn’t about being stuffy—it means I deeply understand growing bodies, proper alignment, and safe physics. I prioritize evidence-based, healthy movement patterns over outdated, high-risk practices so your child stays strong and injury-free.
Focusing on the Whole Child: We are a performance-based studio centered on individual growth, technical progress, and creative resilience. Our goal is to build strong bodies and confident, expressive thinkers at every age and level.
A Global Perspective: From European stages to anthropological fieldwork in South Africa, Guatemala, and the Ivory Coast, I’ve seen how movement connects people. I bring that open-minded, community-first energy directly into our classrooms.
Our Studio Commitment When I founded Elevate Motion Studio, my vision was to create a space that balances high-quality training with a warm, supportive atmosphere. I’m a parent too, and I know how busy family life gets—which is why I run our studio with clear communication, organization, and a deep respect for your time.
