About Stage Time (Especially for Our Youngest Dancers)

We understand that a lot of preparation goes into a performance that may only last about 1 minute and 30 seconds for our youngest dancers.

While that might seem short, it is an incredible feat for their brains.

To put it in perspective, memorizing a 90-second routine is developmentally similar to reciting “The Itsy Bitsy Spider” ten times in a row — but with brand-new movements for every single verse.

Even with a teacher’s guidance, they are navigating:

  • Motor planning

  • Spatial awareness

  • Musical timing

  • Sensory processing

  • Stage nerves

For young children, this is a marathon.

We know it can feel like a long wait for a short moment on stage. But this recital is truly for the dancers. Every second on that big stage builds bravery, confidence, and self-esteem.

And we are so proud to help them build that confidence — one plié at a time.
