2026 Fall Show: The Snow Queen

Audition for a Solo Role (ages 7-13)

Our fall show is inspired by The Snow Queen by Hans Christian Andersen ❄️

All dancers (except Tall & Small toddlers) are in the show…
BUT we still need featured roles:
👑 Snow Queen • 🌸 Gerda • 🧊 Kai • 🏹 Robber Girl • ✨ many more

🕺 Solo Roles = Extra Spotlight

  • Rehearsals = Saturdays

  • TIME = Between 1–5 PM

  • 🔁 Exact times for each role will shift within that window throughout the school year

    ✅ Full schedule for your dancer’s role shared before you commit

✅ Requirements

  • Ages 7–13

  • Enrolled in at least 1 regular weekday dance class (ideally more!)

📅 Performance

  • This is our annual fall show

  • Goal: November weekend

  • Date may shift based on venue

  • When scheduling our performance date, we will avoid major conflicts (Thanksgiving, school breaks)

Audition for solo roles are held on May 2nd at Elevate Motion Studio.

Whether your dancer just moved to town, took a break from dance, or simply wants to be part of a production, non-Elevate students are absolutely welcome to audition.

Audition Format

Auditions have 2 parts:

1. Group Routine

  • Dancers will learn a short routine

  • They will perform it in a small group

2. Solo Performance

  • Each dancer will perform a solo for a jury

  • We use an external jury (they do not know any of the dances)

    • This is intentional—if a dancer forgets part of their routine, they are expected to keep going and improvise

    • We are looking for dancers who stay confident and do not freeze when something goes wrong

Solo Guidelines

  • Dancers who learned one recital dance should use that dance

  • Dancers who learned multiple recital dances may choose one of those dances

  • If your dancer participated in Elevate’s 2026 Spring Recital, they may use their recital choreography

    • No need to submit it in advance

    • We will have the music ready

  • If the dance was learned at another studio:

    • Please email the music at least 1 day before auditions

Quick Note

We discourage dancers from performing self-choreographed solos for this audition.

Audition Dress Code

  • All black, fitted dance clothing

  • Dancers may bring dance shoes if it fits their solo style

  • Tap shoes are required for tap solos

  • Otherwise, dancing barefoot is completely fine and welcome
